Architecture Meets Politics – And Policy Happens

In conversation with other city and state architects (names TBC), the city architect of Copenhagen, Camilla van Deurs, will debate the role of architecture and city planning within the realm of politics. A key challenge for city and state architects is how to translate architectural quality and urban planning into actionable policy initiatives with real impact. We will look at successful examples of doing this while also discussing how to manage potentially conflicting interests in the role as a city and state architect: How is it possible to be a guardian of architectural quality, advisor to politicians and responsible for developing livable, sustainable cities and landscapes, all at the same time?
