The Sustainable Future of Mass Timber Architecture

While virtually every roadmap leading to the global climate goals highlight the imperative of using biosourced materials in construction, mass timber has evolved to become a viable solution for even the most complex and high-rise buildings in urban contexts. The advantages are well known: timber construction allows for carbon neutrality and faster construction times while also providing new opportunities for innovation in building design.

The question for the seminar is how designers are working with the transition to mass timber including responsible sourcing of materials, and lessons learned from pioneering projects and the transformations that made them possible.
