UIA Sustainable Development Goals Commission

The SDG Commission’s session aims to explore the nexus between architecture and the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The session will be divided into two parts.

The focus of the first part of the session will be on the best practices and projects in architecture that contribute to achieving SDG number 11 and 12. It will also provide an overview of the Commission’s framing on how to practically engage with the SDGs.

The second part of the session will delve into the core promise of the United Nations SDGs “Leave No One Behind”. The focus of this session will be on how architecture can embrace and implement inclusive design, planning, and construction practices, thereby contributing to creating an architecture for all. The session will also explore the meaning of the commitment to “Leave No One Behind” in the context of architecture and provide insights on how architects can operationalize this commitment.
