Velux Daylight Talks

Daylight Talks is an international series of talks organized together with prominent schools of architecture by D/A Daylight and Architecture in collaboration with the International Union of Architects (UIA).

The talks explore the significance of natural light in architecture and feature architects and offices who are actively working with daylighting in their projects. Each talk brings a unique perspective to the topic and the overall goal is to challenge and inspire fellow architects, educators and students of architecture to consider the role of natural light and its impact on human well-being, performance and joy.

The UIA 2023 World Congress of Architects will be hosting three DAYLIGHT TALKS. We are happy to present Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara, Grafton Architects (IE), recipients of the Pritzker Prize 2020, the EU Mies Award 2022 and The Daylight Award in 2022. Omar Gandhi (CA), Award winning office and viewed as one of Canada’s notable younger architects, and Dorte Mandrup (DK), receiving national and international acclaim for her work, including the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture 2022.

Established as a resource for students and professionals, D/A Daylight and Architecture celebrates the importance of daylighting in a variety of ways: The Daylight Talks lecture series, the biennial International VELUX Award for students of architecture, and through a free online library of articles and interviews related to daylight and design. In everything we do, our goal is to share knowledge, encourage dialogue and collaboration as well as to inspire innovation.

The initiative is presented by the VELUX Group. For more than 80 years, the VELUX Group has created better indoor environments by bringing daylight and fresh air into homes, workplaces and many other types of buildings all over the world.
