Architect, Architectural Services Department of HKSAR Government

Mr. Billy Law graduated from the Department of Architecture of the University of Hong Kong and he joined the Architectural Services Department of HKSAR Government in 2007. He is currently a Chief Project Manager responsible for the development of open space, leisure and cultural projects in Hong Kong. He also worked as a Senior Architect previously overseeing government in-house design projects, his built projects range from primary schools, open space and promenade, museum revitalization, forensic medicine centre, to an exhibition pavilion at horticultural exposition.

Mr. Law has also collaborated with government consultants in research and studies related to the sustainable built environment applicable to the urban environment of Hong Kong. His departmental Knowledge Paper on Building Sustainability and Facades was presented in 2018; his studies on Sponge City Concepts and Technologies and Use of Pervious Materials were presented in 2021; and his studies on Sponge City Design for Different Project Typologies was presented in 2022.

As an architect, Mr. Law believes it is time to make the cities more resilient in the face of extreme weather and climate changes, and to develop new design and management solutions for our built environment to increase their adaptability.
