Professor and Deputy Director at Institute of Architectural History and Theory, School of Architecture, Southeast University, Nanjing, China. She was trained as an architect in Chongqing and practiced in Shenzhen. In 2008, she completed her Ph.D. at the Architectural Association School of Architecture. Her main research interest is on the relationship between architecture and modernity, architecture and urbanism, architectural practice at cross-cultural contexts and history of modern Chinese architecture.

She has published more than 40 essays in Chinese and English; co-founds the AS Forum of Contemporary Architectural Theory with organising conferences, book translations and publications; co-directs the design research on urban regeneration; curates and participates several exhibitions; and lectured in the UK, Sweden, Japan, Spain and China.
