Juan Pablo López Cortés is the Regional and Sectoral Secretary (SERES) for Sustainable and Regenerative Territorial Development of the Government of Antioquia.
Under its direction are the secretariats of: Physical Infrastructure, Environment and Sustainability, the Public Services Management and the decentralized entities: Housing Company of Antioquia-VIVA, Ferrocarril de Antioquia and the Integral Reforestation of Antioquia – RIA. In addition, it is in charge of prioritizing government actions in the sub-regions of Urabá and the West.
He is a Mechanical Engineer from the Pontifical Bolivarian University. Among his achievements, the Terpel university scholarship for academic excellence stands out.
He completed postgraduate studies obtaining a Master’s degree in Applied Economics at EAFIT University. His career path has been in the public and private sectors as a planner, structurer and director of large urban and rural infrastructure projects, mobility, urban transformation and environmental sustainability. He has been a technical and financial advisor to different consulting firms on infrastructure, concessions and public contracting.
Juan Pablo successfully led the operational direction of the Parques del Río Medellín project, a work that has won recognized awards and is enjoyed daily by the people of Medellín, since it has become a meeting place for rest and recreation. Subsequently, he coordinated the projects of the public-private Alliances for the government and on different occasions he has been the youngest Governor of Antioquia (e) of the department.
