Kim Youngchul

Associate professor / KAIST / Urban Design

Youngchul Kim, PhD is an associate professor of urban design at KAIST and an urban designer, licensed architect, researcher and educator. His current interests include planning and design strategies in the era of climate change and urban analytics for capturing urban invisible characteristics.

His urban research and urban design practice both explore roles of built environments in human being’s daily challenges to continuously sustain their urban life. Prof. Kim was a commissioner in the Presidential Commission on Architecture Policy that was the advisory committee on national-wide urban and architectural policies and projects for the President in Republic of Korea.
