Anne Mette’s professional work is characterized by a strong commitment to enriching architectural quality and innovation, sustainable transformation of the urban fabric and landscapes and a deep engagement in working architecturally with the site-specific potentials and places capacity for change. Anne Mette is trained as an urban designer and holds a ph.d in urban transformation from Aarhus School of Architecture. Throughout her career she has consciously blended research, teaching and practice. A long with teaching and research at the Aarhus School of Architecture (2012-2020) Anne Mette was responsible for strengthening external collaborations with practice.
As a practicing urban designer and landscape architect Anne Mette has been co-founder and partner of two design studios first ‘Metopos Urban and Landscape’ (2005-2010) and later ‘Second City’ (2024-2020). From 2010-2012 Anne Mette was co-owner and worked as head manager of projects with complex urban development projects at the interdisciplinary practice ‘Bascon’. Alongside this Anne Mette has been engaged internationally as a visiting scholar at Columbia University, New York and as a critic at various schools of architecture and from 2017-2021 board member The Danish Foundation for Culture and Sports Facilities. From January 2021, Anne Mette took on the position of Chief City Architect in Aarhus Municipality.
