Karin Høyland

Senior Researcher

Karin Høyland is a senior researcher at SINTEF Community. She is a trained architect who has worked with research on housing quality and liveability of physical environments for the elderly and other target groups for 25 years. Karin was appointed by the State Council in 2009 to sit in the Innovation and care committee. Over many years, Høyland has collaborated with The Norwegian National Housing Bank, which is responsible for guiding communities and pointing at good examples. She was co-author of “Handbook for age-friendly site Development” (published by NAL) and the book “Inclusive Architecture”. In 2022, she was co-author of the SINTEF report: “Equal, normalized, and Included? Experiences with the purchase of own housing for the developmentally disabled”.
