Yasmin Sharif

Architect & Director, Sharp Architects

Yasmin Shariff is an architect and director of Sharp Architects. Yasmin combines a career in academia and architectural practice with a focus on sustainable development. She was Senior Lecturer at the University of Westminster and a member of the board of the UK Government’s East of England Development Agency (EEDA) and the UK Round Table for Sustainable Development.

Yasmin won a major EU Thermie Award to research exemplar eco-projects in Europe. As part of this award, she organized the RIBA’s first conference and exhibition on sustainable development in 2000. She recently won the Hertfordshire Futures Sustainable Construction Award for a complex refurbishment of an early Georgian heritage building where the energy bill was reduced from £1000 a week to £25.

Yasmin champions the cause for social justice and sustainable development in the architectural profession in the fundamental belief that there can be no climate change without social change.
