Naja Md. Alwi

Senior Lecturer and researcher in architecture at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan

Najah Md. Alwi is a Senior Lecturer and researcher in architecture at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan. With a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Victoria University of Wellington, a Masters of Research in Sustainable Design from Auckland University, and a PhD in Architecture and Urban Design from the University of Nottingham, she focuses on sustainability, resource issues, and inclusive architecture. With a passion for creating equitable spaces, she aims to inspire positive change in the built environment.

In 2021, Najah and her assembled team members from all over Malaysia—Muhammad Shamin Sahrum, Dr. Aiman Mohd Rashid (UTM), Dr. Nor Izura Tukiman (UTM), and Nur Nadhrah Azifah—were invited to participate in the Copenhagen Architecture Festival (CAFx) International Manifesto Relay 2023. The entry hopes to showcase the dynamic and passionate team of young architectural graduates and researchers dedicated to redefining the future of architecture through innovative thinking, cultural sensitivity, and sustainable practices. The teams also have a strong belief in the transformative power of architecture to shape environments that foster harmony between people, nature, and heritage.
